So I bet you are wondering what this is all about right? I mean who the heck is benny, and why does he have a blog? Well below you will find your answer. This drawing is a sketch that I did while in class one day (although this is not the original sketch, it's a very close copy). His name is Benny the Yak, he is stinky, and lives in Antarctica.
I liked the sketch of benny so much that I decided to try out making him in Flash. I think he turned out pretty neat. I also created a short flash animation with him to test out his animatability. He works pretty well. This is an image from the flash document.
The following is the flash animation, it didn't get finished, but it accomplished what I set out to do. Just click play and check it out. Theres no sound so don't turn up your computer to hear it. haha.
My girlfriend Darah and I went to the Chicago International Children's Film Festival this fall, and we were very inspired to see all the films. We decided it would be our goal to enter a film in the festival for next year.
We both like Benny so much that we've decided his story is the one we are going to enter. We are starting the process of making an animation and this Blog is going to be a record of our progress on the animation.
Stay tuned for more posts in the future, that is all for now. Darah has started doing concept art and working on story boarding the animation. I'm sure she will have a post on the progress of this in the near future.
